All work is performed totally by hand on a variety of woods, depending on the desired outcome. These include maple, birch, poplar, and basswood. Nothing is added but heat, usually by a wire-tip burner. All work is done from high quality photographs (5" x 7" or larger). The artist can usually find your favorite celebrity on the Internet. Pyrography as an art is extremely old and is unmatched for value when compared to an original painting. Since there are very few pyrographic artists in the world, and there are no numbered prints for sale, uniqueness is unsurpassed.
